What Can You Earn?
A variety of non-credit credentials can be earned through UBC Okanagan Continuing and Professional Education courses and programs. The credentials you will receive for specific courses and programs are found on the course details page.
Letter of Attendance
A non-credit Letter of Attendance confirms that the learner was present at the time and place the course was offered.
Letter of Completion
A non-credit Letter of Completion verifies the learner’s attendance and completion of all tasks associated with the course.
Letter of Proficiency
A non-credit Letter of Proficiency verifies that the learner has met the attendance requirements and has achieved a level of performance in completing all tasks assigned within the program that would indicate proficiency.
A Non-Credit Certificate comprises a minimum of 150 hours of learning activities. Like the Letter of Proficiency, this credential verifies that the learner has met the attendance requirements and has achieved a level of performance in completing all tasks assigned within the program that would indicate proficiency.
All credentialed programs also receive a digital badge to share their credential. Where there is no official UBC credential issued, learners will receive a statement of registration and course conclusion.
What is a Micro-credential?
“Micro-credentials recognize stand-alone, short duration learning experiences that are competency-based, align with industry, employer, community and/or Indigenous community needs and can be assessed and recognized for employment or learning purposes”
— BC Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training
